Solo Violinist
The violin is our most sought-after solo instrument! It’s hugely popular for weddings, special events and proposals. Our team of top violinists at String Musicians London are highly experienced in all performance settings and importantly, love doing what they do! They’re all graduates from the best conservatoires in London and perform with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, both in the UK and abroad. Our violinists and strings also travel extensively for performances, so whether your luxury wedding is in France or Ibiza, we’ve been there and can help you plan!
Whether you’d like to hire a solo acoustic violinist, or a solo violinist with backing tracks, or splash out a little and go for the electric violinist, just let us know and we’ll help you make the right decision for your event.
If you’re a bit unsure about whether you’d prefer to hire a solo violinist, solo cellist, violin and cello duo, string trio or string quartet, or an ensemble with piano, please email us and we’ll be able to offer you specific advice for your bespoke event. Having worked in the wedding and event industry for over ten years, we’re always excited to help our customers achieve their perfect day.
Our violinists have a massive selection of repertoire available for you to choose from – we have the Bridgerton favourites and the Classical masterpieces, and even a bit of rock and RnB!
If you have a special request for your bridal entrance, first dance, or proposal that you can’t find on the list, please let us know and as long as we can arrange the music for you, we can offer you this special request for free.
If you are looking for something more edgy and cool, then you have the option to hire an electric violinist or electric violin and cello duo! The electric instruments add a modern vibe, and are guaranteed crowd-pleaders! Electric strings perform with backing tracks, and you’ll find the list below. We’re always looking to add to our list, too! If you book an electric violin or ensemble, we will bring our portable PA system. We can really dial up the volume here, which is ideal for large crowds, and your guests will be sure to be dancing at the end (or beginning!) of the night!
List of backing tracks
This is the list of our songs with backing tracks that will cover a 3 hour booking. The list of songs is suitable for a solo violinist, a violin and cello duo, string trio and a string quartet. We offer one song for free that isn’t on the list, as long as we can source the music and the backing track for your special choice! Do let us know if you have a request that isn’t on here and we will do our best to arrange the music for you. By the way, the backing tracks work equally well for acoustic strings too, we’ll just bring along our mics 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I hire String Musicians London?
Once you’ve decided on the date, time and location of your event, get in touch with us and we’ll email you across our price list, including any quotes for travel and distance. You can actually change the details on your booking, including the ensemble and time, up until 28 days before your event, too, so we do offer quite a lot of flexibility in this regard! The booking is confirmed once we receive confirmation of deposit payment, which is 25%, and we’ll email you across the invoice along with our contract.
You have the option of paying via bank transfer or card. The remainder of the payment is due 28 days before your wedding or special event.
Can I choose specific music?
Yes, you can! We offer a special request that isn’t on our repertoire list for free, and any other songs will incur an extra fee, which we will quote you.
When will you arrive to set up, and what will you wear?
We aim to be at the venue around 30 minutes before the beginning of the booking time, in order to get dressed and set up.
‍
The girls wear coloured, long ball-gowns, and the men dress in all black. If you’d like us to fit in with a specific colour-scheme, please let us know – we have lots of colour dresses and will try to match your request!
The men can also wear tuxedos if desired. Either way, we always look snazzy and elegant and take pride in our appearance!
When do you play during the wedding ceremony?
We will play for your bridal entrance, the signing of the registry, and for your exit as a married couple. We are happy to play during other parts of your ceremony too, if requested – for example during a church service, or a recital piece during the ceremony. If you need help choosing the music, please ask us for advice and recommendations, always happy to help!
We also recommend booking us to play as the guests take their seats, to set the romantic mood and provide some light entertainment before the ceremony.
We require some small breaks for bookings over an hour – to give our fingers a refresh! This would be 10 minutes each hour for bookings of an hour or more, and a 20 minute meal break for bookings of 3 hours or more. We of course can’t take a break during the ceremony itself as that would be disruptive.
