Frequently Asked Questions
How can I hire String Musicians London?
Once you’ve decided on the date, time and location of your event, get in touch with us and we’ll email you across our price list, including any quotes for travel and distance. You can actually change the details on your booking, including the ensemble and time, up until 28 days before your event, too, so we do offer quite a lot of flexibility in this regard! The booking is confirmed once we receive confirmation of deposit payment, which is 25%, and we’ll email you across the invoice along with our contract.
You have the option of paying via bank transfer or card. The remainder of the payment is due 28 days before your wedding or special event.
Can I choose specific music?
Yes, you can! We offer a special request that isn’t on our repertoire list for free, and any other songs will incur an extra fee, which we will quote you.
When will you arrive to set up, and what will you wear?
We aim to be at the venue around 30 minutes before the beginning of the booking time, in order to get dressed and set up.
The girls wear coloured, long ball-gowns, and the men dress in all black. If you’d like us to fit in with a specific colour-scheme, please let us know – we have lots of colour dresses and will try to match your request!
The men can also wear tuxedos if desired. Either way, we always look snazzy and elegant and take pride in our appearance!
When do you play during the wedding ceremony?
We will play for your bridal entrance, the signing of the registry, and for your exit as a married couple. We are happy to play during other parts of your ceremony too, if requested – for example during a church service, or a recital piece during the ceremony. If you need help choosing the music, please ask us for advice and recommendations, always happy to help!
We also recommend booking us to play as the guests take their seats, to set the romantic mood and provide some light entertainment before the ceremony.
We require some small breaks for bookings over an hour – to give our fingers a refresh! This would be 10 minutes each hour for bookings of an hour or more, and a 20 minute meal break for bookings of 3 hours or more. We of course can’t take a break during the ceremony itself as that would be disruptive.
Do you bring all the equipment?
Yes, we do! The only thing we request from the venue are chairs and a covering for us if we are playing outdoors, in order to protect the instruments. A gazebo or some large sturdy umbrellas are suitable for this.
Will you be amplified?
If you’d like to book us with amplification, that is certainly an option and we can bring our PA system with microphones. Please let us know at the time of booking if this is something you need.
Sometimes the venue has an amplification system available which we can use, so it’s a good idea to check with the venue. Usually we do not need to be amplified, but some clients like this option if they are booking us for a particularly large event.
You can also hire electric strings, so get in touch for a quote today if this is something you’re thinking about!
Can I hire String Musicians London to perform for my destination wedding?
Yes! This is something we have a lot of experience with, and it’s always a good idea to book a reliable ensemble to work with for your destination event, rather than a lesser-known local string quartet.
Communication with String Musicians London is always easy, we are reliable and of course fantastic musicians, so it’s always worth it to have your mind at ease so that you can enjoy one of the most important days of your life with no stress!
We can help with the travel arrangements too, having much experience in this regard and we jet set with instruments all the time.
Do you have different line-ups?
If you’d like to book an ensemble that’s larger than a string quartet, that’s certainly an option and something that we have organised many times. Just let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll help you to plan!
We’re always excited to get creative and think outside the box.
Can you play outdoors?
We can indeed! We just ask that a shelter is provided for us to play under, such as a large umbrella per musician, or a secure gazebo, to prevent sunlight, rain and bird droppings damaging our instruments.
How much do you charge?
String Musicians London offers competitive rates and upon inquiring, we will respond with a quote that clearly states the different options and costs for each ensemble and length of time, as well as the travel fee per musician. There are no extra costs and we do not currently charge VAT. Please contact us directly for our price list.
